Understand the procedure
Political asylum is a form of protection that the Brazilian State may grant to someone facing persecution for their beliefs, opinions, political affiliation or acts considered political offences. The decision is discretionary: it is assessed by the State, and submitting a request does not guarantee a grant.
Territorial asylum: in Brasil
The request can be presented in Brazilian territory to a Federal Police unit or a regional representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Federal Police forwards requests it receives to the Ministry. Confirm the arrangements for presenting your request with the responsible authority.
Diplomatic asylum: outside Brasil
Brazilian law provides for diplomatic asylum abroad in diplomatic missions and other places specified by law. It follows diplomatic rules and depends on the authorities involved. It is not an online visa application or a promise of travel to Brasil.

What am I paying for?
You pay for the legal and document analysis, preparation and coordination of the request, filing support and follow-up. The proposal explains the BFY and legal professionals’ responsibilities and the fees for each part of the work.
Will I need to attend appointments myself?
Yes, whenever the authority requires your presence, such as for identification or an interview. We prepare you for those appointments, check what you need to bring and explain what follows. Any in-person accompaniment is set out in the proposal, according to the location.
How long will the application take?
We set out a schedule for our work and follow the official stages as they progress. Processing times and the final decision depend on the authorities. Our role is to keep the application organized, respond to requests and keep you informed; we do not promise a date or a positive decision.
Does the support end when the request is filed?
No. Follow-up is part of the service: notifications, requests for information, preparation for the next stages and guidance after the decision. The proposal specifies the duration and the actions covered, including how renewals, appeals or further proceedings will be handled.
Your service proposal
Our support is a paid professional service. Before you engage us, you receive a proposal covering case and document review, application preparation and filing, follow-up and assistance after the decision. It identifies the professionals involved, the duration of support and how we handle additional requests.
BFY fees, legal fees and third-party expenses are itemized in the proposal. Translations, certificates and travel are identified separately, so you know what the price covers.
Your first message only needs to tell us which support you are looking for and how to reach you. We arrange the appropriate channel for your personal account and documents as part of the assessment.
